Saturday, April 1, 2017 Kite Festival Brighton, CO – Get a FREE kite (with preregistration) sponsored by the Friends of Barr Lake. Check out other kites and meet experts from kite clubs. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED to receive a free kite. Call the Nature Center 303-659-6005 to reserve your kids’ kites. We want to make sure we have enough for everyone.

This is an outdoor event so please dress for weather conditions.

This event is included with your regular park entrance fee or annual pass at no additional charge.

Saturday, April 8, 2017 Kids and Kites at the YMCA Bolivar, MO – Also on Saturday, The Roy Blunt YMCA of Bolivar will celebrate Kids and Kites day. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kites will be available to purchase and decorate, or kids may bring their own kites.

Saturday, April 15, 2017 Flights of Fancy Kite Festival Lee’s Summit, MO – Look up in the skies above the picturesque Longview campus of Metropolitan Community College in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and you will see a virtual masterpiece of nylon art. Kites as large as three-story buildings float effortlessly against the backdrop of the springtime sky. Other kites twirl, swoop and dive, much to the astonishment of the gathering crowd.

Flights of Fancy is held annually on the third Saturday in April. We invite you to join the fun on April 15, 2017

Saturday, April 15, 2017 Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower Annual Wind Festival Missouri – The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gateway Kite Club will showcase their kites during the April event. Club members will bring their trainer kites for those interested in learning how to fly like the pros.

“The Wind Festival is a wonderful family event,” said Deanna Barnes, project manager for the village of Hartford. “The tower is the perfect place to take advantage of the winds in our area to fly kites. And, of course, we appreciate the Gateway Kite Club, which has helped make this event a success year after year.”

Friday, April 21, 2017 Aim High Community Kite Flight Aims Community College on April 21 will host the “Aim High Community Kite Flight” at each of its northern Colorado campuses, according to an Aims news release.

The kite day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 21, will take place at the college’s Greeley campus, 5401 20th St., north of Cornerstone Conference Center; Loveland campus, 104 East Fourth St.; Windsor campus, 1120 South Gate Drive, between the Public Safety Institute and Automotive Technology Center; and Fort Lupton campus, 260 College Ave., east of Prairie Building.

Bright red kites are available for participants at each of the campuses, and the event is part of the college’s continuing 50th anniversary celebration, as well as National Kite Month and Earth Day.
